It is with great satisfaction that the Cretan audience has welcomed the distinction of the Cretan Discography at the popular music awards organized by MEGA and the Greek IFPI. It is the first time ever that a peripheral record company has won the first ‘Traditional Greek Music”award. The Cretan Musical Workshop - S. Aerakis has won the highest distinction of this category with its album ‘Cretan Classics 2’ by Haralambos Garganourakis. The other nominees for the same category of “Traditional Greek Music” where the following albums: "Oi megales kiries tou dimotikou tragoudiou " – Sofia Kollitiri, "Riza tis forias" – Vasilis Skoulas, "Ta halkina tis Goumenissas" – Horeutikos Omilos Thessalonikis and "Taxideuontas" – Stella Konitopoulou. Given the high standards of competitiveness and the remarkable nominees, this distinction has an added value while at the same time underlines the popularity of Cretan music and the importance of quality and responsibility from record companies. Our congratulations to Haralambos Garganourakis and to all those people that contributed to this success. It is worth mentioning that the 4th Annual Arion Awards ceremony took place at the Athens Concert Hall and that the award to Haralambos Garganourakis was given by the host of the event Nikos Aliagas. |
